I cannot stress the importance of using a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Physical sunscreens (which contain either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide), reflect or scatter the sun’s rays. Absorbing sunscreen ingredients absorb and neutralize UV rays. Both types of sunscreen may be combined into one product that provides broad-spectrum protection.

Sunscreen is the #1 anti-aging product you can buy. The sun’s rays (even indirect light) produce free radicals that deplete collagen resources and contribute to photo-aging and obviously, skin cancer.

I use Elta MD UV Shield SPF 45 everyday. Why? For one, it’s broad spectrum; second, there is a high concentration of active ingredients. The high SPF defends against UVB (the burning rays) that can cause cancer and a 9% concentration of transparent, micronized zinc-oxide shields age-inducing UVA rays.

This product is light, oil-free and absorbs quickly. It is non-comedogenic and works well for all skin types, especially oily or acne-prone, and may be used under make-up.
